The year 2006 marked the 9th anniversary of Nike Football Training Camps in America, with a celebration featuring different events at the University of Miami in Florida, USC in Los Angeles, California, Texas A&A IN College Station, Texas, and the University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia. The purpose of Nike Football Camps is to support elite high school players with college potential, who are taught position-specific drills especially designed by some of the top sports performance specialists and NFL football players in the United States.
This year's event also includes the University of Oregon, in Eugene Oregon, LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, Rutgersin in Piscataway, New Jersey, Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania, Stanford in Stanford, California, Clemson in Clemson South Carolina, the University of Florida in Gainesville. Nike Football Camps are free for the athletes, and the specialists in charge work with stars such as Warrick Dunn, Walter Jones, Derrick Brooks, Michael Vick, and other super stars. Athletes who participate in camp activities receive a Nike Pro workout shirt and a photo taken of them wearing the shirt.
In the middle of a joyful climate of acceptance and respect, participates receive a dynamic warm up with the option to be tested in the vertical jump, 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle and bench press (185 lbs) to produce their SPARQ Rating. SPARQ training lead participants through specific drills designed to improve athletic speed, ability, and explosiveness. Nike Football Camps offer the opportunity to tap into professional secrets of proper workouts that have helped amateur players make it to the NFL.
Later, all the athletes participating in the Nike Football Camps are separated into position groups with specific drills, such as QBs, RBs, WR/TEs, OLs, DLs, LBs and DBs. This action enables the participants to work individually on techniques and football skills with top-notch position national coaches. Nike Football Camps conclude one-on-one passing and non-contact line drills, considered by the specialists the highlight of the camp. During this period, athletes are educated to improve their overall agility, quickness movements and individual football-specific speed.
