Summercamp Activities

If you are considering letting your children experience a summercamp, you are in for a shock. Summercamps have evolved. Following is a look at the available summercamp activities now offered.

Summercamp Activities

Okay, I am not that old. When I went to summercamp each year, the activities boiled down to arts and crafts, sports, horseback riding and so on. Archery was a favorite since kids immediately started shooting at each other notwithstanding the frustration of camp counselors. Traditional summercamps still exist, but camps have evolved to offer far more specific activities than you probably can imagine. Let’s take a look.

Finding a summercamp for your child is fairly easy these days. If you can figure out what they are interested in, what you can accept and what you can afford, there is a camp offering it. I am not kidding. Does your child interested in fantasy fiction after watching Lord of the Rings one too any times? Send him to a fantasy writing camp. Does he or she play video games 24/7? Send him to a camp where they teach children how to make video games. Yes, they exist by the hundreds.

Camping Journals For Kids

Art camps are a fairly popular trend, but not in the way you probably imagine. Ceramics and such are out. Now your children can learn subjects such as acting, directing, script writing and nearly every aspect of film making. They can also attend magic, music, dance and creative writing camps. And to think I was happy making a slightly wobbly ceramic vase for my mom.

Academic camps are also surging in popularity with parents although children seem less enthused. Camps are now offered from on dry subjects such as preparation for college entrance exams, math and most academic subjects. More attractive to kids, however, are camps focused on robotics, marine sciences with dives included, and visits to international countries to experience new cultures. Having failed to ever grow up, my personal favorite are the camps offering flight lessons. Yes, you child can become a pilot with every camp letting them actually get behind the controls while in the air. Hey, at least they won’t ask to borrow the car anymore.

Technology camps are probably the most popular of the new camps. While you and I may grimace when our email goes down, children tend to be very savvy when it comes to technology. Now they can attend camps where they learn how to make websites, create video games and even make 3d animation films. For the fortunate parent, a child might be so infatuated as to make a career in these extremely high paying fields.

The summercamp evolution appears to have no end. Summercamp activities are available for just about any interest. Find a subject both you and your child can live with and I guarantee a summercamp exists that will offer it.
