Children are ecstatic when the can see the end of the school year coming about. As parents, you are happy for them. Still, summer presents every parent with a major problem.
You are up to your eyes in work and time is a premium. You want your children to have a great summer, but how do you balance that wish with the demands on your time? Summercamps provide the answer, but only if your children actually enjoy the camps.
Sending children to summercamps can create guilty feelings. Sometimes you can feel like you are just shipping them off because you don’t have time to handle their needs during the day. It doesn’t have to be this way if you take the time to plan out the summercamp situation.
The key to finding the best summercamp is to talk with your children. Find out what they are interested in now as opposed to two months ago. Heck, you can even sit down at the computer with them and start looking at camps. All the sites have picture and detailed explanations of the activities they offer. Do this together and you can find a camp that you children will be excited to go to, which should cancel out any guilt you might have about sending them.
You may think all summercamps are the same. Au contraire! Summercamps for children have evolved into niches. You can still find general summercamps, but many now focus on specific subject matters. There are summercamps for space, computer technology, marine science where your children get to sail around on a boat for a few weeks. If you children are fanatical about a particular sport, there are a zillion camps that focus on individual sports such as soccer, football, gymnastics, baseball, basketball and so on. Trust me, everything is covered no matter how esoteric.
Finding summercamps for children need not be a guilt ridden exercise. Find a subject you and your children are equally excited about and you will have a win-win situation.
