Tawas Vacation Planning
Tawas Bay is located on the Northeast part of the Lower Peninsula on Lake Huron. A beautiful area, Tawas vacation planning can be done for summer, winter, spring or fall.
Tawas Vacation Planning
Tawas is a very popular vacation destination with tons of things to do. If you are planning a Tawas Bay vacation, here are some of the things you can do.
Camping at Tawas is popular with most visitors. Camping facilities range from RV Parks to more traditional tent camping. Camping areas include Brown’s RV Landing Park, Tawas Point State Park, Oscoda KOA Family Resort Kampground and East Tawas City Park. The campgrounds tend to fill up quickly in the summer.
As you might imagine, fishing is popular since the area sits on the shore of Lake Huron. Trout and Salmon fishing can be undertaken throughout the streams and rivers found all over Tawas. Obviously, you can take your own boat out for a bit of lake fishing. Boats can also be chartered for the more serious angler with Spirit of AuSable Charters being popular. Trout, Salmon, Walleye and Steelhead are plentiful.
To cater to visitors, Tawas offers numerous entertainment events throughout the year. The Cosair Concert Series occurs one day a month from February through April, but check for specific dates each year. There is an annual summer Arts & Crafts show each June, often in the third week of the month. The Blues By the Bay music festival happens in late August. These are only a few of the events that happen throughout the year.
